Project Overview

The Namibia Red Cross Society, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavors, in its international and national capacity, to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it occurs: Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all people. The Namibia Red Cross is on the frontlines. Through soup kitchens, staff and volunteers are providing warm and nutritious meals daily to thousands of people in need.

370 316 (16% of total population) are food insecure and in need of urgent food support, A total number of 578 480 people are affected by the drought of 2015 and needed livelihood support The Government has been implementing a number of food security related initiatives, including drought aid relief – there is a gap in meeting the needs of approximately 300 000.00 people who are reported to be in urgent need of food support and water
