Pupkewitz Cross Country Marathon

Project  Overview:

The Pupkewitz National Cross Country Championships is a marathon held annually with the sole purpose of creating a platform for young athletes to prepare and compete on Olympic level.

The marathon is held in different regions and towns in Namibia. The Pupkewitz Foundation is the sole sponsor of the event.

The relationship between Athletics Namibia and the Pupkewitz Foundation stems back to 2011, when the late Mr. Harold Pupkewitz who was a vigorous sportsman, donated close to $70 000.00 to Athletics Namibia . The Pupkewitz Foundation is the sole sponsor of the event since August 2011.

  • 200 athletes from 14 regions of the country register annually to participate in the event.
  • The late Mr. Harold Pupkewitz was a great inspiration for the Pupkewitz Jetty Mile and this event is part of Mr. Pupkewitz’s legacy.
